I grew up in Lancashire, always fascinated by animals and dreamed of being a vet since I was a small child. Spending hours crawling around exploring local wildlife and then trying to learn all about them, reading countless books and watching any animal programme that was ever aired at the time. Our pet Jack Russell terrier, ‘Bramley’ and then my hamsters, sealed the deal for me to do everything possible to become a vet.
I am now fortunate enough to have been the lead veterinarian for Blackpool Zoo since 2012. This has given me the opportunity to treat all sorts of incredible creatures from the elephants and giraffes down to the tiny birds and reptiles and everything in between.
As a school boy, I dreamed of running my own veterinary practice and caring for all creatures great and small. In adulthood, I wanted to ensure this became a reality. I am proud to have set up a truly independent practice, in the heart of the local community, focussed on providing the best standard of care, from a team that truly cares about you and your pets.
I feel privileged to have been trusted by so many clients over the years to treat their wonderful cats and dogs. Many clients commented that they had struggled to find a vet willing and more importantly competent in treating exotic pets as well as their dogs and cats. I have an RCVS advanced practitioner certificate covering pet avian, small pet mammal, reptile and zoo animal species. Alongside years of experience treating zoo animals and exotic pets, this has meant that clients have trusted me to bring their pets for treatment from across Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and beyond.
I have carefully selected a team of vets, nurses and support staff who all share my values, ensuring the animals are always put first and that everyone receives the very warmest welcome possible. We look forward to meeting you and your pets soon and share with you everything we have to offer.
I qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2006. Since graduating, I initially worked in a busy mixed practice in South Wales, returning to Lancashire in 2012 and began focussing on small animals (including exotic pets) and also taking on a lead veterinarian role at Blackpool Zoo. Keen to deepen my knowledge of zoo animals and exotic pets, I gained an additional qualification, an RCVS certificate in advanced veterinary practice (Zoo Medicine).
I set up the practice in 2025 as I wanted to provide clients with a truly independent practice, with a personal touch and family-feel to it, and able to offer a full range of services to all pet species.
I qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2021 and since then have worked in small animal practice within Lancashire. I enjoy all aspects of my job from meeting new pets and their families, to working up complex cases. I am particularly interested in exotic/zoo medicine and surgery, and I’m enjoying seeing a variety of creatures now since joining Moore Vets. Outside of work, I have two Newfoundlands (Kiara and Theo) and three cats (Autumn, Willow and Oreo). I enjoy dancing, skiing and travelling in my free time.
I have worked in practice for 7 years, spending 3 years of this studying to be a qualified veterinary nurse. I gained my degree in 2022. I absolutely love my work! I have a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary nursing especially anaesthesia, inpatient care and nurse consultations. Animals have surrounded me all of my life. I have 2 horses, Marley and King. I also have 3 dogs, Ivy, Lola and Izzy.
Carolyn has worked in the veterinary industry for over 16 years so brings a wealth of knowledge and customer care experience to Moore Vets. As matriarch of the team, Carolyn keeps the clinic running smoothly and the staff happy with hot drinks and an endless supply of snacks.
